PASPEA-CC results sharing and capitalization workshop: Bet won for the project team coordinated by Marc Adjaoke

The workshop for sharing and capitalizing on the results of the Support Project for the Adaptation of Production Systems of Small Farmers in Central Benin to Climate Change (PASPEA-CC) took place on Friday, 5 May 2023, at the Miracle hotel in Bohicon. Opportunity for all stakeholders to share the achievements of the project with a view to its sustainability by the NGO Equilibre Afrique.

Financed by the National Environment and Climate Fund (FNEC) and implemented by the NGO Equilibre Afrique in the municipalities of Agbangnizoun, Dassa-Zoumé and Savalou, this project follows a selection process organized by the FNEC in 2020 in Benin.

Started in May 2021, the Support Project for the Adaptation of the Production Systems of Small Farmers in Central Benin to Climate Change (PASPEA-CC) covered three (3) Municipalities namely Agbangnizoun, Dassa-Zoumé and Savalou. Its overall objective is to contribute to strengthening the resilience of vulnerable smallholder farmers to climate change by improving their access to technologies and structuring infrastructure for sustainable agricultural production in central Benin..

As part of the project implementation, several works have been carried out, in particular the distribution of improved seeds and seedlings (But, Soy, vegetable crops, moringa), capacity building for farmers, the construction of solar-powered irrigation infrastructure, the installation of equipment and small agricultural materials and the strengthening of the technical capacities of the beneficiaries.

For the project coordinator Marc Adjaoké, this workshop was organized to make an overall assessment of the achievements and harmonize with all the stakeholders the operational commitments in order to give more chance of success to the scaling up and the sustainable capitalization of the achievements of the latter. According to Marc Adjaoke, the workshop was also furnished with group work aimed at an overall assessment of the project by the beneficiaries and actors with a view to developing a roadmap for the sustainability of the achievements of the said project. "Recommendations were made by all the actors present for the sustainability of the project's achievements", added the coordinator.

Many participants came from different structures and institutions involved including the Town Halls, the Communal Cells of the Territorial Agricultural Development Agencies of the three beneficiary communes, the Departmental Directorates of Agriculture, of Breeding and Fishing of Zou and the hills, the National Environment and Climate Fund (FNEC), the Direction of the NGO Équilibre d’Afrique, support staff and beneficiaries (producers) from Savalou, Dassa, Agbangnizoun. For them, this project has effectively contributed to strengthening their socio-economic and environmental resilience.
