Malanville is a town in Benin located in the Alibori department in the northeast of the country, by the Niger river, on the border with Niger and close to that with Nigeria. With an area of 3 016 km², this purely economic commune hosts the second largest market in Benin. Endowed with several economic advantages, it is the leading producer of onions and potatoes. So many potentialities that deserve visibility, hence the need for the presence of a media. Observation, Malanville does not have a local radio, what is an obstacle in the process of its development.
Indeed, Mayor Gado Guidami made it known during the statutory tour of the Prefect of Alibori at the Malanville stage. To believe it, the establishment of a radio station is necessary. Beyond economic visibility, this media will contribute to the reduction of deadly conflicts between farmers and herders through awareness sessions.
“Local radio will participate in the relentless fight against deforestation and desertification”, explains Gado Guidami. Border town on the Niger River, Malanville is also the victim of annual floods. According to the Mayor, it is necessary to inform the populations confronted with waterborne diseases due to floods”.
