6th edition of the handball goalkeeper training course : The Cotonou stage successfully completed

After Adjohoun, Parakou and Djougou nearly a hundred young talents took part in the Cotonou stage of the handball goalkeeper training course, initiated by the Beninese international Luc Josias Zanfongnon. It was saturday 07 December 2024 on the handball court of Ceg Segbèya d'Akpakpa.

The Cotonou stage was exceptional. Accompanied by recognized handball figures including Mohamed Dangana, Femi Tunji, Barry Bah Tchené et Show Guy, professional and aspiring trainees from the Ceg Sègbèya sports classes, Nokoué, the coast, The Pylons, Verdoko, Ceg Sainte Rita, handball clubs and associations respectively received the basics necessary to be even more active on the 6 m and convincing basics for more enhanced training. According to the explanations of Luc Josias Zanfongnon, The training took place in two stages : " The morning, we had training for goalkeepers which is based on their physical condition which differs from that of field players. In the afternoon we based the training on tactics, the positions, placement, everything that goes into a goalkeeper’s techniques to have a good match”, he confided before adding that he is proud that with each edition, there is an innovation to give a special taste to this training. “We plan to bring together the best for a special training course in order to say in two or three years, they took this way ».

Mohamed Dangana, the former Pelicans goalkeeper, very happy to contribute his part to the building of this great initiative, is convinced that within a few years, Benin will have a say in goalkeeping. “There is no point in leaving things behind, this youthful layer passionate about handball. This is why I decided to bring my little experience to give what is necessary to these young people who before long Inch’Allah will do wonders for us.” “I know that the objective will be achieved. I firmly believe in it. And we have the duty and the obligation to give the maximum to young people so that they can hold the torch”, adds Fèmi Tunji. Guy Daniel Kuassi, coach of the goalkeepers of the national team of Benin appreciates the initiative and objects that everything will be concocted with the promoter for better and satisfactory results. The trainees in turn confided that the training was very enriching.

The 1st day of the first leg is fixed from 16 next december, it will be Lokossa’s turn for the deed 4 of this training.
