17th Kurash World Championship : Benin is counting on two athletes to shine in Uzbekistan

After his gold medal at the African Championship in Kurash in Swaziland, a new challenge awaits, Beninese athlete Mouhamadou Nassirou Odjo. This is the 17th Pro Kurash World Championship which will be held in Termiz in Uzbekistan from 15 at 19 October 2024. He will be at this international joust with his compatriot, Anmar Akadiri.

Each day, he does a little more. President Hassane Fousseni with his pilgrim's staff only has eyes for success and making Kurash (translated as “achieving a goal by fair means” which is a kind of national belt fight, traditional among Turkish peoples officially included in the global network of non-Olympic sports and supported by UNESCO), a popular discipline in Benin.

Thus, thanks to his leadership and dynamism, Benin will be present at the 17th Kurash World Championship in Uzbekistan and at the President's Cup of the Islamic Republic of Uzbekistan.

At this international meeting, two athletes will honor the Beninese colors : the African champion in the category of 96 kgs, Mouhamadou Nassirou Odjo and his compatriot Anmar Akadiri.

Another invitation waiting

Invitations are flying from everywhere. The partners are very amazed by the dynamism of President Hassane Fousseni and would like to cooperate with Benin. “They can’t wait to discover Benin in particular and Africa in general”, he confided. Reason why he adds “An invitation to encourage the Beninese youth of Mas Wrestling under my leadership to go to Rio de Janeiro”.
